White Castle

Wednesday, December 27, 2006

Sadly, seeing as how we've been driving non-stop for 2 days now, and will end up being about 2 1/2 days before it's over with, the resulting consequence is that I had no opportunities to take pictures of various things. I did, however, snap a shot with my phone this afternoon, and wanted to share it. If you've never eaten at a White Castle....what are you waiting for? I presented my theory/conclusion to my dad, and he agreed.....It's more about experiencing the phenomenon that is White Castle rather than the actual quality of food. I guess it'd be kinda hard to pack good taste into something that small anyways.

Yeah, that's 12 empty White Castle burger boxes, and 1 empty fries box.....I should've gotten the "Crave Case" 30 pack.

The day after Jesus' birthday (that's 'Hay-soose', by the way)

Tuesday, December 26, 2006

December 26...the day after christmas...possibly the worst day of the year to be out and about in various retail establishments...ok, maybe Black Friday (day after Thanksgiving) could be worse, but you get the point. What would I like to be doing today? Well, besides just sitting at home and somewhat relaxing, I'd be fine with heading to the office to work for the day. The last thing I'd want to be doing today would be getting out on the road going somewhere (besides the aforementioned home or office).

So, what am I doing today? Here we go....I'm driving with my dad to Ohio. Yes....Ohio. Now is where you ask, 'Why are you driving to Ohio?'. Well, let me tell you why. In September or October our company had a crew of 4 work a job in Ohio for about a month. My dad was one of those 4. They had rented an apartment or whatever and bought some basic appliances and whatever else, cause the client was paying for it, so why not. Well, the apartment is paid for through December with the possibility of more work coming up, so they left a bunch of stuff in the apartment. Well, the work isn't here yet, so that stuff has to get out of that apartment. So, we're driving up there to load up stuff and bring it back. That means about 16 hours up there, spending the night somewhere, load stuff, 16 hours back, possibly spending the night again before we get all the way back. We left at about 7:30 this morning. This should be fun....and cold.

And I'm still waiting on a story or two for 2 posts down.

This is nice

Sunday, December 24, 2006

Ok, so this is really cool. In addition to the normal GPRS or EDGE networks that you have on most cell phones for data connection (internet, etc.), I also have this 3G network on my new phone/bomb launcher/PDA device. What the 3G network does is give you supposed broadband speed internet in areas where it is available. We don't have it in East Texas yet, but it is in larger cities like Dallas or Houston or whatever. So of course, being in Houston for 4 days now, I've been able to try it out. And I'll tell you what it is now......freakin great. I don't know if it actually hits broadband speeds, but it can't be far away. It loads webpages fast, sends emails fast, does everything fast. Makes a huge difference when you consider that the regular GPRS connection is only like a decent/good dial-up speed. So, the moral of the story is......I'm very happy.

And I'm still waiting for someone to get creative with a story for my previous post. Pick it up people.

Create your own story/inside joke

Thursday, December 21, 2006

Ok, here's the deal. Romack and I know the true meaning behind this story, but I don't want to hog all the fun. So here's what we're gonna do...I'm gonna give you line of this inside joke (between Romack and myself). What I want from all my creative minded friends out there...come up with your very own back story for this phrase. So...I tell you the line, think of a story, post it, we all laugh collectively....easy enough? Here we go...

Even blurry...

The Christmas Party

Thursday, December 14, 2006

So, our company Christmas party is today, this evening, tonight, whatever. I just had to share a little something first though. I think we spent around $550 on alcohol (beer, liquor, wine, champagne). Just wanted to post a pic of all the alcohol before the party started...pretty impressive.

4 cases of Bud Light
1 case of Guinness
1 case of Corona
1 case of Heineken
18 bottles of Tiger Lager (never heard of it)
1 large bottle (1.75 liters) of Absolut Vodka
1 large bottle (1.75 liters) of Glenfiddich (scotch)
1 large bottle (1.75 liters) of Bombay Sapphire (gin)
1 large bottle (1.75 liters) of Captain Morgan (rum)
1 large bottle (1.75 liters) of Crown Royal (whiskey)
3 large bottles of Sutter Home Merlot
3 large bottles of Sutter Home White Zinfandel
3 large bottles of Sutter Home Chardonnay
2 bottles of Korbel Brut Champagne
2 bottles of Martini & Rossi Asti Champagne

JPF Land Services don't play around when we throw a party. Apparently, we intend on some folks leaving here pretty lit up.

The cycle...

Monday, December 11, 2006

Well, it's that time again. Time to get bored of my current toy and want something new. Why do I have to want expensive things?

Ok, I can't keep the same cell phone for a long, extended period of time. It's best that I just come out and admit it. So, the time of year finally rolled around where I decided it was time for something new. Don't get me wrong...I love my Treo 650. But I just get bored and want new things....simple as that.

So, the final verdict, after many days of researching and deliberating...the Cingular 8525.

The pictures I took with my Treo suck...but you know what....the picture on the 8525 are gonna be awesome!!!

Day in Dallas

Thursday, December 07, 2006

Ok, I'm not even gonna lie. For lunch on Tuesday, I had probably one of the best (we're talkin like top 3 ever..ever!!) steaks I've eaten in my life. I've been to this particular restaurant before, but don't think I've ordered this particular item.....and I'll never order anything else on the menu now. The restaurant, Texas Land & Cattle Steakhouse. The steak, the Texas Land & Cattle Smoked Sirloin...which is their signature steak or something. I don't recall ever having a smoked sirloin before......freakin' delicious.
Next on the agenda, we get to drive through what is obviously the sex district. Directly across the street from our client's office building, we have the Electrique Boutique...selling unique adult outfits and accessories. A couple blocks back the other way, we have Zone D' Erotica...similar products for adults. Now this is what blew my mind....I could've made a horribly distasteful joke right there. I don't know exactly what all products they sell, because I just don't see an entire store's retail space being needed for this....but there was a Condoms To Go one block from the office building. Not even a block past that....Condom Sense. One exit up on the freeway, another Condoms To Go. Ok, a store.....an entire store.....a whole flippin' store.....for condoms??? Do they really need that much retail space to sell that? Gas stations can do it in a bathroom stall, for cryin out loud. I'm very disappointed that I didn't have my camera with me, so the phone had to suffice.
Thoughts? Comments? Concerns?

Tomorrow

Monday, December 04, 2006

I'll just start by saying, "Monday's suck!"

The weekend doesn't help at all...don't get to rest, don't get to relax, etc. So I start off Monday still tired and exhausted for some reason. Then I get to spend all day at the office, wanting to just lay down under my desk and take a nap. A nap would be nice. But I have to make create maps and spreadsheets all day to have ready for tomorrow.....which is why this post started in the first place, right?

Tomorrow, I get to go to Dallas to meet with a client I'm working for. So, hopefully I'll come back home afterwards and still have a job. Think about me, and pray that we don't lose the job with these guys. Things have just been a little hectic and crazy with this particular project, and although things have turned around a bit in the last couple weeks, I'm still nervous that they'll just decide to shut it down instead of mess with it any longer.

I'm tired.....
