Cat from Hell

And this, my friends, is why I don't like cats....

Well, really, this has nothing to do with why I don't like cats....but it's pretty funny.

Finally...I think the search is over

Tuesday, October 24, 2006

Well, this has been a lot harder than it should have been. It should not be this hard to simply find a guitar that you like and will be happy with. I guess the problem is really that there were too many options that I would be happy with. So, I felt obligated to share my final decisions. And this ended up going in a totally different direction that it started.....but I like the results.

So, with the money I ended up saving by switching to Geico....I mean, switching to the cheaper alternative of the Hagstrom guitar instead of the Gibson....I got the crazy idea to get two new guitars instead of just one. Jimmy, I hope you were sitting down for that one. So here's the new additions.

What we have here....first, the Hagstrom Super Swede in amber sunburst...second, the Reverend Warhawk HB in black w/ tortoise shell pickguard. They are both ordered now. The Hagstrom should be here within a week. The Reverend will not arrive until late November...cause that's how cool they are. They only make so many at a time, and you basically have to get on a waiting list.

So there you have it. Let me know what you think.

Odd/Scary Sighting...

Thursday, October 19, 2006

Ok, I'm not even joking, I couldn't make this up....

I just got home from playing a gig with Todd way down in the booming metropolis of Colmesneil...which was a fun night. And I'm tired and ready to crash, but have to share this first.

So, I'm driving home tonight, and am coming up Hwy 69 between Wells and Alto. I've got my cruise control on and I'm truckin' right along. There's this pickup truck in the right hand lane, going a bit slower than me. I move it on over to left lane, and start moving in closer to the truck. As I get about 50 or so feet behind it, my headlights hit the back side/back window of the truck, and I see a very disturbing image. There are two individuals in the truck (one driving, one in passenger seat...don't know gender of either). What I see though, are these two individuals both wearing tall, white, pointy hoods. Yes.....those kind of tall, white, pointy hoods. Now, I personally have never actually seen these people in person. We've all seen it on tv, but most of us have probably never seen something like this in the flesh. Folks, whether we realize it or not, I believe that racism is alive and thriving in our society. When I saw those people in that truck, I was scared....even though I, myself, do not have the physical features that attract the hate of this group. But if these guys decide they wanna have a little "fun" and mess with somebody in the middle of the night on a deserted highway, who's to say they're not gonna run up on me just to check and see if I'm white or black or whatever.

So, what did I do? I tapped my cruise control on up, and sped my white butt on away from those idiots....before they got any ideas. So many emotions ran through me in those few, fast moments. First, I was kinda confused as to what I was even seeing in the first place. Then, I was sad, because of the thoughts of what this all meant to our world. Then, I was scared for my own well-being. Then, I was relieved to get away from them and have that experience behind me. And finally, now, I'm extremely exhausted and sleepy.....I'm goin to bed.

The KKK can kiss my white butt!!! I would've outrun you in my car anyways, you bunch of sheet wearin' homos!!! Was that rude? Good......

Guitar dilemma

Monday, October 16, 2006

I've been going back and forth between several options on what guitar I'm looking to get next.
This shouldn't be that hard of a decision...but for some reason, it is for me. It just shouldn't be this hard to spend money. Believe me, I love spending the money....I'm quite well at it, and don't usually have this hard of a time with it. I've now moved to looking at another brand of guitars besides the Gibsons. Still a Les Paul type body, and similar sound coming from it...but different nonetheless. Plus, now all of my voting/research on what color to get may be in vain...because this other brand doesn't quite have the color options that I had with the Les Paul. So what we have now is the Hagstrom Swede or Super Swede vs. Gibson Les Paul. The Hagstrom is a very much less known guitar line...had quite a following in it's vintage days though. And the price tag is much more appealing than the Les Paul. The Hagstrom Super Swede, which is the model I'm leaning more towards, only comes in Black, Vintage Sunburst, Cherry Sunburst and Amber Sunburst. The Swede, which doesn't have a couple features that the Super Swede has that I think I want, comes in more solid colors....Wild Cherry, Black, White and Gold Top...I really dig the white, with black pickguard. Just trying to decide if I like the colors of the Super Swede, or if I can live without the features on it and settle for the regular Swede. I'm pretty much set on one or the other, and not gonna try for a Les Paul now though. From what I've read about them online (reviews, etc.), they seem like they'd fit me wonderfully. So, find color examples to refer to here from the Les Pauls. The Lightburst on the Les Pauls is similar to the Amber Sunburst on the Hagstroms.

The Incredible Mouth Band

Instead of playing instruments, they just repeatedly speak the title of their instrument to the tune of the song....ingenious

Help Me Guitar Shop!

Monday, October 02, 2006

Alrighty folks...the time has come to add yet another piece to my collection. I'm looking for a Gibson Les Paul...yes, that's right. So, here's what I need from all of you fine people. I've narrowed down the main colors available on a Les Paul to what I wouldn't mind having....and want a general consensus as to what would look best on me. So, below you'll find picture examples....click on each for a larger picture.
We have Ebony, Gold, Cherry, Cherry Sunburst, Lightburst, and Honeyburst....I just added the extra last two since there is a difference in darkness. So, please help me pick. If you don't know what guitars I already have (if that helps decide what would look best together), one is a Tobacco Sunburst color (which is brown to black fade) and the other is a butterscotch/very light faded yellowish color. I'm going to email some people who don't frequent my blog, and see if I can't get some extra help here. Thanks everyone!
