The 50's Queen

Saturday, May 26, 2007

The booming metropolis of Rusk has an annual event called the "Fair on the Square". It is held around the downtown "square" area of town, around the courthouse and surrounding block. There are arts and crafts booths, vendors, the usual fried foods, beverages and other snacks and such. This year, they had a 5o's-wear themed Beauty Contest....age bracketed into several different groups, boys and girls and other stuff. So, it was decided that we would enter Hope into the contest...and my grandma even offered to make her a poodle skirt. So, the fair was today, we went and did the whole contest thing...she did great, didn't freak out or anything.

So, Hope was crowned "Overall 50's Wear Winner"....she was absolutely the cutest kid out there. But everyone was a winner....or something. But check it out for yourself.

It's over

Tuesday, May 22, 2007

So, it has come and gone. Another season of 24. Jack Bauer has made it through yet another day. How many times do things have to get screwed up before CTU and the White House will finally just listen to Jack? Jack's homeboy, Doyle, had to go and get his eyes blown out and end up like Romack in the end....maybe he'll at least end up with a good dog. If they'd have listened to Jack though, it would have never happened. Oh well, it makes for good drame I suppose, and gives ol' Jack something to do. So here we are waiting til January again for next season. I wish he hadn't shaved though. I was diggin' the beard.

Funny things blind people say....

Sunday, May 20, 2007

So, we're just hanging out before the service this morning...myself, Romack and Brad. We're a little bored, so we're lounging around Romack's drumset, and for some reason Brad notices that the kick drum pedal is strangely close to the snare stand. Brad proceeded to sit down at the drumset and said, "Dude, your pedal is too close to this stand, you can't even fit your foot on it in here." Romack says, "Well you've just got a big foot. My foot is smaller, it fits just fine."

Then Romack says this little gem....you're gonna love this. So Romack says to Brad, "You just need to lose some weight so your feet wouldn't be so big."

This left both Brad and I quite confused, because neither of us were aware that your weight had anything to do with the size of your feet.

Many, many miles

Saturday, May 12, 2007

This was my odometer at the end of the day yesterday. Yep, I topped 100,000 miles. And it only took me not even 3 1/2 years. I love my car. He treats me well, pretty much all of the time. And I pump awesome music through him via my iPod. So...it was kinda exciting, like one of those milestones or something. I don't know why though. It just means I drive way too much.

The Return

Tuesday, May 08, 2007

My comrades, it's been a while....I know. I've been sick, cut open, sewn up, had a mother in the hospital, been in no mood whatsoever to do anything on here, etc. But here we are, over two weeks later....and it's like we never missed a beat. I don't know...but here I go.

Just random stuff.

Hope has officially recorded her first session in the studio. We decided to record her doing the message for our answering machine. But instead of trying to get a 21 month old to say exactly what we wanted her to say all at once, we put her in front of the mic and hit record, and I just went and edited it all together (took our talking out, put her parts together, etc.) to make it nice and pretty. Her wearing huge headphones is pretty hilarious, but not as hilarious as her pushing her face all the way up against the pop screen in front of the microphone (which I unfortunately did not get a picture of).
Secondly, new music....Travis has a new album. I know most of you are not Travis fans, and I understand, and I forgive you. You are simply uninformed and uneducated. Actually, no I don't understand. And no, Travis is not an individual, Travis is the name of the group. Anyways, new album, "The Boy With No Name".....greatness, as with any Travis album. They're just a band that I've seriously never been disappointed with.Next new music....Bjork's new album, "Volta". This is where you go....Bjork?!?!?!!!!?!????!? Who listens to Bjork?!!??! Again, I know most of you are not Bjork fans....and on this one, I really do understand. Her music is not for everyone. It's insane. But it's incredible. She's waaaaaaayy out there 98% of the time, but she's really a super talented musician....and as psycho as she seems, there's some depth to the madness....trust me. You want something even weirder than Bjork....go Google Deerhoof. Deerhoof is a band, by the way. Find something to listen to from them. You'll thank me later.
