Romack and I began tracking scratch tracks of vocal and acoustic today. We're extremely excited about this project. Not only are we recording for him....we're helping him out with arrangements, writing new parts and actually playing on it. So, it's going to be a pretty cool deal for us to work on. Maybe one of us will post a short clip of something from today later. Here's a few pictures from the day though....thanks to the Treo 750.

Odd people

Wednesday, March 28, 2007

So, I came out of the office this afternoon, heading to my car to leave for the day....and I see this on the sidewalk. I'm pretty sure I know who did this (the note part), cause we all know she has some issues. This is just funny. So, someone actually took the time to go back into the office, get a notepad, write their message on it, find a tape dispenser, carry note and tape dispenser outside, tape down note to sidewalk below disposed chewing gum, find rocks from nearby landscaped area, take tape dispenser back inside, come back out to leave office.

Another day

Saturday, March 24, 2007

So, I survived the trip to Houston on Wednesday....throbbing head and all. The cut itself isn't hurting me as bad now, but I've got this fantastic pounding/throbbing headache that refuses to cease.

So on Thursday, I got to sit around the office not doing much all day.....which was kinda nice.

But then, Friday had another trip to Houston in store for us. Another round of meetings with companies...trying our best to impress them with our good looks and vast knowledge of everything known to man. To top off the day and make it worth the trip.....a stop by Guitar Center, a.k.a. "The Greatest Retail Store in the Known Universe". Seriously, they should market that slogan.

So, I've been looking at getting another guitar amp. I've had 2 bigger amps for a while now, and really needed a lower wattage, smaller amp. Something that won't blow everyone away in smaller spaces and in the studio like my Hot Rod Deville does now. So I brought along my other amp, the Vox AD120VT (I think that's the model), and decide I'll see if I can get rid of it as a trade in towards something else. I'd been looking and researching certain amps already, stuff that was just simple and would get the job done...nothing fancy or expensive. I wasn't even giving myself the option of looking at the amp I really truly wanted, just because I wanted to stay a little lower on the price scale. But, of course, when I get to the store and play through the different amps, everything changes. There was just no comparison....and you just can't ignore the difference in sound quality and all that mess. So, I shot down the idea of getting any of the 3 that I had originally been looking at, and ended up coming home with the Vox AC15...which is the amp I truly wanted from the beginning. And, it's still like 1/4 of what I could have paid for some crazy expensive boutique amp if I really didn't care about spending money and getting killed when I get home. i.e. Matchless, Bad Cat, Orange, Dr. Z, Divided by 13, etc.

So anyways, I'm extremely happy with my stuff now. I'll have to post a picture and list of my gear now. But for now....I'll keep you all waiting on the edge of your seats...

Not my week...

Tuesday, March 20, 2007

Ok, so yesterday I had a little incident with a door at my office. I'm afraid I might have broken/fractured/etc. the end of my middle finger on my right hand....getting it slammed in said door.

So....today.....it's a brand new day....let's start feeling better....right? Apparently not...

So, I get home from work, and my little bro calls and needs me to come help move some stuff out of the storage building at my grandma's house. And of course, being the great brother/son/grandson that I am....I skip eating dinner (which was waiting for me at home), jump back in the car and head on over to my grandma's. Ok, so let me describe exactly the space we're in. The storage building/shed is a metal building, tall enough to stand up inside, but the door is about shoulder high going into it.

Let's cut to the chase.....we're carrying stuff out of the building and loading it into the car. We've got most of it out, and I'm carrying out this dog kennel thing....and as I mentioned before about the door being not so high....I didn't duck down low enough to make it out the door. Now, it being a metal building, it has a lovely metal edge around the door frame (and everywhere else on the building). So, I hit right in the middle top of my shiny bald head, take a step back and grab my head, my brother says "You ok?", my hand feels wet, I say "Uh, I don't think so", I pull my hand down and it's full of blood....not just covered in blood, but like you catch water in your hand to get a drink and the liquid makes a little pool....covered in blood and a pool of blood in my palm, and blood proceeds to pour down off my head onto the floor of the shed....my brother says "oh no....", mom and grandma run into the house to get paper towels and rags, i sit down on the outside of the building with my brother and he starts holding my gaping head, mom comes back with paper towels and they tear some off and hold it on and put pressure on it....we call my aunt who is a nurse to see if she thinks I need to go to the clinic, she says yes, it's gonna need stitches......crap.....

We go to the ETMC Express Care Clinic here in Rusk, and the doctor cleans it up and decides to use this glue stuff and steri-strips instead of doing stitches cause it'll leave a better looking scar or something....it hurts......extremely bad....

My 1 1/2 inch long head wound, side to side...

I've gotta leave to Houston at 5:45 tomorrow morning with my dad to go meet with potential clients for new work for our company.....this is gonna suck....everyone is saying it's gonna hurt worse tomorrow....

When Animals Attack - San Antonio

Thursday, March 15, 2007

Ok, so maybe they didn't attack....but it sure would have made for a great news story. I just thought I'd share a few pictures from our trip to San Antonio this past weekend....specifically from the zoo. The San Antonio Zoo is really a pretty cool zoo. If you haven't been, you should go....and remember the Alamo while you're in town. I'll try to get my other pictures together from the rest of the weekend and see if there's anything worth posting.

These guys just always look funny to me....don't know why.Mr. Grizzly
Yes, now is when you proceed to go on and on about how cute this picture is.
Hope...obviously enthralled with something. This is what Hope referred to as a "funny duck"....I think we all know it as a pelican though.
Not everyday that you get see one of these dudes....especially not behind bars, which was pretty cool. That's another topic for conversation...how do you feel about clipping the wings on a bald eagle? Does it seem somewhat wrong? Or does it protect them in the long run?
Hot dang, that sucker caught him a rat!

Mi Padre

Thursday, March 08, 2007

How bad is my dad? Is there anything he won't buy? Does he have to be 15 years old again? Does he really think he has to have every single game/electronic device/computer or tech gear/etc/etc/etc....

No, my dad is not 15 years old....because that would make me -11 years old. And no, I'm not -11 years old. In reality, my dad is approaching 50 years old. And what does he think he needs to buy?

An XBox 360. Why? Cause he didn't have one. And it's been a really long time since he owned a video game console...probably the Super Nintendo or Sega Genesis was the last. Good reasons, huh?
