I was in Walmart yesterday, and browsing through the magazine section I ran across a "Texas Music" magazine....that's what it was titled. Upon reading more into this publishment, this sparked a problem in my mind...
Why does ALL music that they're calling "Texas music" have to be country music? There's also the group of people/music that is called "Texas country", but this magazine called "Texas Music" was solidly packed with country music acts, and nothing else. Do all the amazing bands and performers from Texas that aren't country music not deserve to be recognized as well? Does it bother anyone that they represent all of music in Texas as country music in this magazine? This has just been bothering me since yesterday, and felt it was worthy of sharing with everyone to see if I'm the only one.
Discuss amongst yourselves...
i've become outraged. oops, i mean OUTRAGED!!! i know man, it's just another texan stereo type. the real downer is that the texans that promote that image are so much louder about the texas identity than the people just trying to get their music out there.
Well, I'm glad to see that SOMEONE CARES around here....and Jimmy's not even located in Texas at the moment, although he's from Texas...and needs to get back to Texas ASAP.
Yeah that's bull. Texas music is not just country. I think Classic Rock is just as popular. I've been streaming Lone Star 92.5 from their website here. That's Texas music if you ask me.
