The Groesbeck Chronicles

Tuesday, September 18, 2007

So, my Dad and I had to pull my trailer to a repair shop this morning (....extreeeeeeemely early this morning) to get the air conditioner checked out. All went well, until we were about to leave....and for some odd reason, my Dad asked one of the guys about these contraptions displayed out by the road.

"Are those hog traps?", my Dad asked.
"Yeah, let me show 'em to ya", the RV guy replied.

Then we proceeded to spend 10 minuted watching this dude demonstrate how these suckers worked....me being very afraid that he's about to snap his hand off in the spring loaded trap door showing how you can adjust the the sensitivity....listening to him tell a story of a 620 pound hog he caught in one of these traps and how it took his son, his dad, himself and a 4-wheeler to get it out....and how he makes his own homemade special secret bait to put in his traps with raspberry kool-aid, corn, yeast, beer and lets it sit to ferment.

Now...I don't know why my Dad asked about the hog traps....but I'm glad he did.

am i the only one who would probably get suckered in by that bait? is it just the beer, or the maybe the beer/kool-aid mix that sounds so tempting.

Seriously, this RV shop dude sounded like he'd fight a hog over a 5 gallon bucket of this stuff that he mixes up.....it was scary.

How do you always end up in some humourous situation? It never fails, man.

Life on the road homey...you just see things...I don't know. Come with me for a week, and you'll see.

It's the life of a Jinkins, it's friggin wonderful.

You sound desperatly lonely dragging Romack out to that horrible place. It was nice for the ink, but i could imagine it's horrible being out there along. Not saying that Romack isn't cool, just saying...you're lonely.

Anyways, have fun being my brother and working Groesbeck. Peace.

    Love,
    James
