Psycho Hippies

Friday, April 06, 2007

I'm confused and concerned about this statement I saw on a church's sign in downtown Houston this morning.

"Church is a place where you get to practice what it means to be human."

Thanks to the First Unitarian Universalist Church.....a.k.a. Psycho Hippies

Everyone discuss please.....I'm seriously trying to understand the meaning behind this.

from pastor Jose at the FUUC Houston: "...For me, it does not truly matter what we believe; it matters how we express those beliefs and live out our lives in service to others. I do not favor any particular theology or philosophy, other than when I preach and when I work with someone, it is always my goal that they walk away with hope"

I assume that they mean that since they are so open and "free" in their teaching that THEY are truly human at their church and I agree. They have embraced the broken sinfulness of humanity and failed to accept Christ.

Man, even the psycho hippies have bad church signs...

What are you guys talking about? That sign is amazing.

So sad that you guys just don't get it. (And Pastor Jose and I DO.)

Dude...I don't have a clue what that means...I just know it makes me uncomfortable. So, you don't know me but I know Todd, I used to be in a praise band with him years ago. I'm a singer/songwriter and I was wondering if you could help me record...if you still do that...and if you don't cost a fortune...and if you are good at what you do...and if you want to. lol. I'll keep checking your blog for some feedback. by the way...i totally barged in on your blog without invitation...but i likes it...funny stuff.

I was just reading your June 16, 2006 post about the comment "no life before death". I think it is a very truthful comment...we cannot have true life (living the life Christ meant for us to live) without dying first. So, I completely agree...there is no life before death.
