A wasted day...

Monday, August 14, 2006

I'll tell you this much...today was the most wasteful feeling day I can remember in my lifetime. I have to upgrade my laptop operating system from the Windows XP Home to Windows XP Professional, in order to access the network and server and everything at my office...cause I'm starting a new job actually working in the office 95% of the time, instead of like 5% before.

I decide to go buy an external hard drive, so I can back up all the contents of my computer before I do this upgrade. So I head on down to Staples this morning, buy me an external hard drive (with my money), and buy a copy of the XP Pro upgrade (with company money, score! cause that was like $200). Come back to the office and proceed to install the external hard drive on my laptop and begin the torture. Without exaggeration, this stupid backup took about 7 hours of my day today...meaning I can't really do much of anything on my computer, work related, until it was done. I was still able to get online and waste time that way, but the computer was still really slow due to the copying, saving, etc. So I pretty much sat there all day listening to my iPod and talking to people on instant messenger.

Finally finished the backup, came home, and proceeded to install the XP Pro upgrade....which took another hour and half nearly. But now, it's done. And I feel like today was useless. I should have brought my guitar to work with me to mess around with songs for Refuel....

Thank goodness for iPods and IM's. Where would we be today without 'em? :P
